Abstract

Background. The Post-Soviet period is characterized by the growth of national consciousness, emergence of ethnical and cultural movements and their impact on social, political and economic processes in the Russian Federation. In this regard, it is relevant to study various forms and methods of cooperation between Russian ethnical and cultural movements and the authorities in regions that contribute to ultimate formation of the Russian identity. The purpose of this paper is to analyze characteristics of formation of partnerships between the Mordvinian ethnical and cultural movement (Moksha and Erzya) and the authorities of Mordovia in the early 1990s–2010s.
Materials and methods. The research tasks were implemented on the basis of the analysis of documents of the ethnical and cultural movement of the Mordvinian nation, materials, periodicals and researches. The basic method of investigation, which formed the basis of this article, was the comparative historical method. It allowed to summarize a complex of often internally contradictory processes taking place in the ethnical and cultural movement of the Mordvinian nation, its interaction with the authorities at the beginning of the 1990s–2010s.
Results. The authors considered the main stages of evolution of the ethnical and cultural Mordvinian (Moksha and Erzya) movement, the way of this movement from confrontation to various forms of interaction and establishment of a social partnership with regional authorities, to recognition of the role of Russia in the emerging
identity. This has contributed to preservation of the ethno-political stability of Mordovia, its quite effective social, economic and political development, strengthening of cultural ties with the Mordvinian diaspora, increased credibility among the other subjects of the Russian Federation.
Conclusions. The Republic of Mordovia has accumulated the experience of successful cooperation and formation of social partnerships between the ethnical and cultural movement of the Mordvinian (Moksha and Erzya) nation and the state power structures. This has contributed to preservation of the ethno-political stability of Mordovia, its effective social, economic and political development, strengthening of cultural ties with the Mordvinian diaspora, increase credibility among the other regions of Russia.
